KATHUA, Apr 18: Seeking support of womenfolk in getting OBC status, Ch Manmohan Singh, president All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS) emphasized that the women of Jat community can contribute significantly in achieving the targets of the Jat Maha Sabha.
He was speaking at the convention held at Kathua organized by Ch Sat Pal, Tehsil president, Kathua. Talking about the role of women in uplifting the society, Ch Manmohan Singh said that non-participation of Jat women in public affairs has snarled the community’s progress and therefore, it is imperative that women should come forward and become decision makers to ensure upliftment of society and its progress.
Expressing resentment against the decision of Delimitation Commission in reserving all the border constituencies having majority of Jat population, the former Mayor said that the entire border belt from Kathua to Mendhar has been reserved without application of mind thus showing extreme levels of prejudice towards the Jat Community which has a massive presence in these areas.
He said that the draft report is unacceptable to the community, urging the Delimitation Commission to rectify the mistake by de-reserving Suchetgarh and newly created Ramgarh constituencies in the general interest of Jat comminute.
However, it’s also quite unfortunate that these Jat community people continue to be deprived of OBC status till date he added.
Meanwhile, Ch Avtar Krishan, Senior Manager J&K Bank (Retd) was unanimously elected as District president of AIJMS Kathua while Sudesh Choudhary was elected as district vice president.
