‘Jats got OBC status after struggle’

JAMMU, Oct 22: After a long struggle by Jat community of J&K under the leadership of president All India Jat Mahasabha (J&K), Ch. Manmohan Singh, the OBC status has been accorded to nearly five lakh Jat community members by J&K LG.
Addressing media persons here today, Ch Manmohan Singh gave the biggest credit of getting OBC status to Jat Mahila Shakti.
“Jat Mahasabha leadership has been striving since long for the OBC status demand and the efforts included meeting Governors, Lt. Governors, Chief Secretary, a series of meeting by entire AIJMS leadership to the ground level worker etc,” he said urging the LG that other two genuine demands of one time settlement and ownership rights should also be considered at the earliest to reduce sufferings of Jat refugee community.
