SAMBA, Mar 2: The Jat Sabha held a sammellan here today under the leadership of Ch Manmohan Singh, president All India Jat Mahasabha J&K Unit.
The other Jat leaders of Samba district, the Jat community of Jammu and Muslim Jats from Rajouri and Mendhar were also present in sammellan and expressed their total solidarity with their cause.
Ch Manmohan Singh said that “ the Jat community resides in about 15 constituencies of Jammu province, as in from Kathua to Mendhar, and in many areas Jats are in majority. But they are disappointed with the role of public representatives, who he alleged have failed in taking the initiative of raising their problems before the Government or projecting them on the floor of the House despite the fact that many MLAs were elected because of Jat votes.
He said that “ this won’t be the case in coming elections and the community is up in arms against those who betrayed it.
He demanded OBC status to jats and packages for refugees, as majority of jats are refugees.
He said the Central Government approved the OBC category to Jats of all States of India, except J&K, and only thing barring our community’s grant of category is a recommendation from State Government.
Others present were Ch Diwan Singh Retd Girdhari Lal, Ch.Baldev Raj, Ch.Sham Lal, Ch.Rashpal, Capt.Tirath Singh, S.Jaggar Singh, Ch Ghar Singh, Ch Anil, H.S.Gill, Om Singh, Ch Satish, Ch Prem Pal, Ch Sat Pal, S Darshan Singh and Ch Avtar.
