SRINAGAR, May 20: Minister for Revenue, Javed Mustafa Mir, along with the Chief Engineer, R&B and engineers from Irrigation and Flood Control today visited several parts of Chadoora constituency and took stock of the roads and other infrastructure damaged in the last year’s floods.
Starting from Kursoo Gath, the Minister visited Padshahi Bagh, Kondbal, Soiteng, Lasjan, Bongam, Nowgam, Naikbagh and Naikpora areas.
Enroute, people met the Minister and apprised him about their problems. Apart from other basic facilities, they demanded early macadamization of flood damaged roads, construction of drains besides plugging of bunds where from water is entering in their areas.
The Minister directed the officers of Irrigation and Flood Control to expedite work on river bund at Kursoo Gath besides taking necessary repairing works at other places damaged by the floods.
The Chief Engineer R&B was asked to construct drainages in these areas besides starting repairing and macadamization of the damaged roads.
Seeking cooperation from the people, the Minister asked them to lift all the material dumped on road side so that upgradation and macadamization of roads is taken up at the earliest. He said drainage is necessary for durable roads and directed concerned officers to formulate a comprehensive and long term plans for these areas.
The Minister was informed that Rs. 3 crore have been earmarked for upgradation of Mehjoor Nagar-Bypass road while Rs. 1.50 core are being incurred on Nowgam-Padshahi Bagh road. He was told that tendering process has been started and work on both the projects will be started shortly.
