Jawan killed in firing range

JAMMU, Aug 22: An Army soldier was today killed during annual range classification firing at Khanpur, Nagrota this afternoon.
He has been identified as Signalman Ravi Shankar Kumar of Bihar.
Reports said the Army jawan died due to a gun shot wound from his own weapon. Police sent his body to the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for post-mortem, which would be conducted tomorrow.
Police said they have initiated inquest proceedings in the case.
The deceased Army jawan belonged to 16 Corps Operating Signal Unit, which was today engaged in annual range classification firing.
Body of the jawan would be sent to his residence after the post-mortem tomorrow.
