Jawan’s leg blown up in mine blast

POONCH, Nov 30: The lower limb of an Army jawan was blown up in a mine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sub sector of district Poonch today.
Official sources said that the mishap took place at round 11.30 am today when some jawans of 15 Enggs Regiment were busy in restoration of damaged fencing in Tarkundi area of Balakote along the Line of Control.
Suddenly, a jawan Rahul Kumar, of Engg Regiment over stepped a live land mine, which exploded with a big bang and blown up his foot and leg. The other jawans had miraculous escape. He was rushed to nearby Army Unit hospital and then referred to Military Hospital, Rajouri. Later, he was said to be airlifted to Command Hospital, Udhampur for specialized treatment.
