KATRA, July 10: School of Biotechnology in SMVD University organized an expert lecture of Prof Jayaraj Jayaraman, a renowned researcher at the Biotechnology and Plant Microbiology, University of the West Indies.
He talked about “Algal extract-based bioelicitors and their mechanisms of biostimulant action in vegetable crop plants”, and emphasized the role of algal extracts as a biostimulant in vegetable crop plants and the futuristic idea of developing applications.
Prof Jayaraman also motivated the students to take up challenging problems and go beyond their normal capacities so as to make a niche of their own in times to come. He also interacted with all the scholars and students, and appreciated their research work while suggesting some easy methodologies for improving the quality of their work for preparing short communication of their potential results.
He also interacted with SMVDU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ravindra K Sinha, and discussed the possibilities for framing project based MoUs between SMVDU and The University of the West Indies.
