JAMMU, Mar 3: Jayesh Gupta, a prominent social activist from Jammu, has urged the Government to take proactive steps towards setting up manufacturing units for Lithium batteries in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here today, Jayesh Gupta emphasized the significance of the recent discovery of lithium reserves in Reasi, deeming it a break through. He stressed that such an initiative could provide employment opportunities to the region’s unemployed youth and other benefits for the region.
He said that the discovery of white gold or lithium deposit in Reasi is a big breakthrough for Jammu and Kashmir, so it is very important that the lithium battery manufacturing should also be done in Jammu and Kashmir, which will give huge employment to the unemployed youth of the UT.
Jayesh emphasized that with discovery of such huge deposits of Lithium in J&K, Central Government can make the Union Territory a hub for the manufacturing of lithium batteries which are used in every other electronic gadget. In this way, J&K will become prosperous and its GDP will increase tremendously.
“For semi-conductor manufacturing, Government of India recently brought Rs 29,000 crore investment in Tamil Nadu. Same kind of investment is also required to be done in J&K for the manufacturing of Lithium ion batteries,” Jayesh asserted.
