JAMMU, Aug 19: Senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party, Jayesh Gupta, today lambasted the Jammu and Kashmir administration for complete failure of the cable car project connecting Mahamaya Temple, Bahu Fort and Peerkho.
Addressing a press conference, Jayesh Gupta said huge investment was made for the completion of the cable car project in Jammu but the footfall to enjoy the ride is almost zero. He said this is the only cable car project in the world where very few people visit for a ride.
“If you see other cable projects in the world, footfall is too much which gives employment and developed the nearby places but the Jammu cable car project is totally going into losses. After so much of the investment, this project should have given a lot of profit to the Government but forget profit, in order to operate it the Government has to spend a lot of money from its own pocket which is the tax payers’ money,” he lamented.
The AAP leader said to revive this prestigious project, Government needs to reduce the price of the ticket so that it can be affordable to the general public of Jammu and Kashmir. Secondly, he said public transportation should be provided so that it is made feasible to all the people.
He also advised to create gaming zones and adventure sports for the entertainment of the public at Peerkho and other places close to the cable car project, besides establishing more eatery points near the site of the project to make the experience of the public better.
“If Government cannot do all the these things, then Government should handover this cable car project to any big private player which will definitely do its best to increase the footfall at this prestigious project,” he said, adding, this will generate employment, development and taxes for the Government.
