JAMMU, Mar 26: Prominent social activist Jayesh Gupta spearheaded a massive anti-drug rally in Jammu today, raising awareness about the devastating impact of narcotics on society. The rally, organized by the Jammu Kashmir Sanrakshan Manch, witnessed the participation of hundreds of volunteers and concerned citizens, all united in their mission to combat drug abuse.
The rally commenced from Gujjar Nagar, near Tawi Bridge, and proceeded through key locations, including Maharaja Hari Singh Park, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Asia, Gandhi Nagar, and Bahu Plaza, before concluding at Trikuta Nagar. Throughout the march, participants engaged with the public using placards, slogans, and songs to highlight the dangers of drug addiction and the urgent need for preventive measures.
Addressing the media during the rally, Jayesh Gupta expressed deep concern over the rising menace of drug abuse, which he described as a major threat to the younger generation and the stability of numerous families. He underscored the necessity of stringent legal action against drug peddlers, stressing that easy bail provisions allow them to resume their illicit activities.
“There should be no easy bail for drug peddlers, and repeat offenders must not be granted bail under any circumstances,” Gupta asserted. “Once they are released, they go back to their illegal trade, further destroying the lives of innocent youth. Strict enforcement and strong laws are the need of the hour to curb this crisis.”
The rally received an overwhelming response from the local community, with several organizations and individuals extending their support to the cause. Participants urged the authorities to take immediate and concrete steps to strengthen anti-drug policies and enhance rehabilitation programs for addicts.
The Jammu Kashmir Sanrakshan Manch reiterated its commitment to continuing awareness drives and working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure a drug-free society. The organization called upon the public to remain vigilant and actively participate in efforts to eliminate narcotics from the region.
