Jayesh meets SSP Jammu, raises issue of drug abuse

JAMMU, Mar 16: Prominent Dogra activist Jayesh Gupta today met SSP Jammu Vinod Kumar in his office chamber and raised various issues related to drug abuse and other crimes.
In his meeting with SSP Jammu, Jayesh Gupta expressed concern over rising drug abuse in Jammu, particularly in border villages of RS Pura, Arnia, Bishnah and Akhnoor. Gupta said with increasing drug menace, theft and snatching cases are also rising fast.
Stating that J&K police is doing good job to control drug menace, Jayesh emphasized the need to take some tough decisions and stringent actions against drug peddlers who are destroying the lives of not only our youth but also their family members for the sake of money.
“These drug addicted youth commits crime such as mobile phone/chain snatching and thefts of varied nature when there is no money in their pockets to buy drugs,” Jayesh said, adding, Narco-terrorism and drug is a big threat to our society and it is a responsibility of each and every citizen to help the police in ending this drug menace from grassroot level.
Submitting a memorandum in this connection, Jayesh requested the SSP to depute patrolling teams at various sensitive places of Jammu so that people can move in their areas fearlessly. He expressed his full support to J&K Police for controlling the drug menace by way of patrolling as well as organizing awareness programmes on drug abuse.
The SSP Jammu told Jayesh that several positive steps are being taken by J&K Police to curb the menace of drug abuse and assured him that in the next three months, result in the form of reduction in this menace will be visible on the ground.
