JCB helper dies, operator injured

RAMBAN, Feb 21: A helper got killed and operator received serious injuries, when the JCB vehicle they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into gorge on Chambalwas-Neel Link Road in tehsil Banihal today.
As per police sources, a JCB vehicle engaged with snow clearance work at Neel Top skidded off the road and plunged into gorge on Chambalwas-Neel Link Road in tehsil Banihal this evening, resulting into on the spot death of helper of the vehicle and serious injuries to the operator.
On getting information, police, Army and locals rushed to the spot and retrieved the dead body of the victim, who has been identified as Farooq Ahmed Malik, son of Mohammad Ramzan, a resident of Chambalwas.
The injured identified as Shabir Ahmed Naik, son of Mohammad Hussain, a resident of Neel Bhatu was undergoing treatment at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, where his condition was stated to be out of danger, when reports last came in.
The body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites, after completing legal formalities.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Banihal police station and investigation started.
