Srinagar, July 3 : On the invitation of the Government, the state employees’ Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) this evening discussed the demands of the agitating employees in an hour long meeting with the State Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal held at the Civil Secretariat here.
The JCC leaders, who met the Chief Secretary and the Commissioner General Administration Department Mushtaq Ahmad included Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Abdul Qayoom Wani, Gafoor Dar and Kulwant Singh.
“This meeting itself indicates positive attitude of the Government”, JCC leader Mohammad Khurshid Alam said adding that JCC is hopeful of a breakthrough.
Alam said the Chief Secretary gave them a patient hearing and discussed all issues including contentious issue of enhancement in retirement age.
“The Chief Secretary has told us that committee headed by him, constituted for looking into demands has recommended extension in the retirement age by two years”, Alam maintained.
Meanwhile, JCC leader Abdul Qayoom Wani said some demands of employees were discussed with a positive outcome. “There was some forward movement on issues regarding daily wagers, pay anomaly etc.”, said Wani adding that attitude of the government looks positive and encouraging.
When asked whether the JCC will call off its proposed protest programme, he said “There will be no change in our already framed programme unless there is some positive outcome”.
The Chief Secreatary, according to the JCC leaders, told them that the final decision on enhancement in retirement age will be taken by the political executive.
