JCC threatens to resume strike if Sept 27 talks fail

JAMMU, Sept 22: Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of J&K Government employees has warned to resume agitation/ strike if no outcome is witnessed during next proposed meeting with the Cabinet Sub-Committee on September 27.
Addressing a joint press conference here today senior JCC members Amrik Singh, Kulwant and Ganesh Khajuria claimed that JCC suspended its agitation for the time being with the intervention of the members of Cabinet Sub Committee headed by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather. The first round of the meeting was held with the JCC leadership on September 17 at Srinagar while it remained inconclusive. The Government representatives (sub-committee) has sought some time from the employees to settle their issues and next round of meeting has been fixed for September 27, 2013.
The meeting remained satisfactory and was held under cordial atmosphere. The Government has assured to resolve all the pending issues including enhancement of retirement age, removal of pay anomalies of different cadre, framing a policy for the regularization of daily wagers and consolidated workers besides providing budgetary support to the Public Sector Undertakings.
They pointed out that many employees were not in favour of suspension of five-day long agitational programme but the leadership decided to postpone it in view of positive response from the Government. They appealed the State employees to wait till the outcome of September 27 dialogue between JCC leadership and Cabinet Sub Committee at Srinagar. If there will be any breach of trust, the JCC will decide next course of action immediately. They also appealed the State employees to get prepared for the decisive struggle if the circumstances compel.
Prominent among others present included Rajinder Kumar, Shahid Hussain, Moulvi Muneer, Ravinder Singh, Nazir Ahmed Moulvi, Rohit George, Darshan Singh, K S Khalsa and K S Sambyal.
