JAMMU, Nov 17: As part of the ongoing celebrations of 65th Cooperative Week, a function was organized in the premises of Jammu Central Cooperative Bank (JCCB) at Sehkari Bhawan Rail Head Complex, here today.
The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of cooperative flag by the chief guest Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone, Secretary Cooperative Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary said that the cooperatives philosophy is an excellent example of value based business model. He stated that weak finances, growing NPAs and poor resource base are some of the factors which have contributed to the declining of the performance of cooperatives.
Dwelling on the theme of this year’s cooperative week which is “Building Public Private Cooperative Partnership” he said that the cooperative model is participatory and community oriented and due to its grass roots approach the impact of its development is equitable and sustainable.
Secretary Cooperative said that Jammu Central Cooperative Bank must endeavour to run along thoroughly professional lines have an enlightened management, a highly dedicated and committed work force and develop progressive plans and policies for the future so as to secure its rightful place in the community of cooperative banks in the country.
Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K, M M Rehman Ghasi said that the mandate of the cooperative sector is not earning profit but to provide services to people with distinction, especially to the farmers and poor sections of the society. He asked the functionaries of the Jammu Central Cooperative to intensify the recovery mechanism for improvement the financial health of the institution which is imperative for sustaining in present competitive market.

Earlier, General Manager (Adm)/CEO Mohd Mushtaq, gave resume of the activities of
the Bank. He apprised that JCCB came into existence on 30th April 1914 during the regime of Maharaja’s in the State and completed its centenary (105th) year of the existence this year.
Later, votes of thanks were presented by Rajiv Gupta, Manager General Administration JCC Bank, Additional Registrar Coop Societies Jammu Tanveer Ahmed Malik and others.
Chairman Citizen Coop Bank Jammu, Parveen Sharma, General Manager Reserve Bank of India, H K Soni and MD JAKFED were also present on the occasion.
