JAMMU, Oct 25: A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Jammu led by its president Arun Gupta called on the Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary here today.
During interaction, Gupta briefed the Dy Chief Minister that the condition of almost all the roads across Jammu are in shabby condition creating hurdles in free flow of traffic and movement of pedestrians. He urged upon the Dy Chief Minister that urgent attention is required to repair these roads.
While discussing the issue relating to mandatory close day practice by business community, Arun Gupta emphasized that UT of J&K is known for its pilgrims and tourist destination. The pilgrimage and tourism are the main source and backbone of our economy. By keeping the business establishments open on all days of the week, we serve the pilgrims and tourists visiting the city of temples. They buy Prashad, eatables and goods of their choice/local importance to take with themselves as gift items. Besides this by keeping the business establishments open, we also contribute in generating revenue for state exchequer.
He also briefed the DyCM that Prime Minister has announced the working hours of business establishments 24×7 to give boost and fillip to the country’s economy. Moreover by allowing FDI in retail sector in our country a new chapter has started where in the local malls are also allowed to open for all days of the week with no time limit. Gupta requested DyCM that this matter needs preferred attention to resolve it once for all.
Chamber president also drew the attention of the Dy Chief Minister towards the pending issues relating to Industrial sector in Jammu such as turnover incentive, GST linked incentives, removal of negative list etc. He urged upon the DyCM that there is urgent need to streamline the mining process as the rates of building material have gone up many fold and are out of reach for the common man.
Dy Chief Minister gave patient hearing and assured that every issue shall be resolved as per law and guidelines that suits the traders and general public.
The other office bearers who accompanied the delegation included Anil Gupta- senior vice president, Rajeev Gupta- junior vice president, Manish Gupta – secretary general, Rajesh Gupta -secretary and Rajesh Gupta, treasurer.
