JCCI team takes up local issues with JMC Comm

JAMMU, Sept 5: The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Arun Gupta alongwith the team of office bearers today met the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and put before him various key issues pertaining to Jammu.
During interaction Gupta apprised the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation that almost all the roads and by-lanes of Jammu city are badly damaged creating hurdles in free flow of traffic as well as movement of pedestrians and there is urgent need to repair the damaged patches immediately. He also requested that the main holes are also damaged in some parts of the city, the same should be repaired without any further delay to avoid any untoward incident.
He further briefed the Commissioner JMC that most of the street lights are not properly functioning. Steps should be taken to repair the same on war-footing basis wherever the street lights are non-functional.
The Chamber team also highlighted the issue of stray dogs and monkeys in some areas of Jammu city hampering the free movement of public especially children in those area. Chamber team requested that immediate action be taken to lift stray dogs on receiving the information from any particular area.
The Chamber team also pointed out that there are some persons who are habitual of making complaints on one pretext or the other. JCCI requested that before taking the action on such complaints the department should verify whether the complaint received is genuine or otherwise.
Gupta also apprised Commissioner that the festival season is going to start and we request not to harass the business community. In case there is some complaint, the bazaar association team of that area should be taken into confidence for resolving the same.
While discussing the issue relating to the ongoing Smart City projects, it was brought to the notice of Commissioner that first of all the drainage system of Jammu city especially in Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Nanak Nagar and Trikuta Nagar should be cleared and if possible the money of Smart City should be spent in new areas rather than the areas where there is no need to implement such projects.
The Commissioner JMC assured that the issues raised by Chamber shall be settled at the earliest.
