JAMMU, Sept 24: As a major initiative to provide housing facilities in a planned manner, the Jammu Development Authority has allotted 1535 plots through the process of draw of lots.
This event was held at Royal Estate Banquet Hall near Best Price on Akhnoor road in a transparent manner in the presence of general public. The draw of lots was held for 3 new housing colonies namely Birpur, Gole Gujral and Kot Bhalwal and the already existing colony i.e Roop Nagar Housing Colony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chairperson JDA, Sushma Chauhan said that this exercise is a part of JDA’s commitment to provide better housing facilities at affordable cost to the people of the State. She further informed that these colonies have been planned in a scientific manner by engaging surveyors for contour mapping through Electronic Toto Station (ETS) for each of these new colonies. She apprised that these new colonies will have essential modern infrastructure facilities and basic amenities such as roads, lanes, drains, lighting, water supply, electric facilities and parks, green spaces, walk ways, schools, health care facilities, recreation centre respectively.
It is pertinent to mention that JDA also for the first time allotted plots to EWS alongwith the reservation in all categories as per the Government order of 1991 within the newly created Housing Colonies.
The newly planned Housing Colony in Gole Gujral under the name of Prayas Vihar, is on the same land which was made available after the anti encroachment drive conducted jointly by the Administrative Department and JDA through the sustained efforts of 3 months on the directions of High Court. While the process of removal of encroachment is still going on, the encroachment free patch has been allotted in order to prevent further encroachment on the same.
The draw of lots was successfully conducted as a result of coordinated efforts of JDA team under the leadership of Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Zora who has taken keen interest in draw of lots within short time span of two months from the date of advertisement for these Housing Colonies.
A cell has been constituted within JDA at the ground floor, to respond on queries/grievances. (If any). The process of receiving queries/grievances in JDA will be operational for one week from 25th of September to October 1 and the same will be considered and redressed within 10 days. The applicants whose forms were rejected and which have been declared unsuccessful, the earnest money deposited by them will be refunded within 15 days.
