JDA employees stage protest

JAMMU, Mar 19: A protest demonstration under the banner of Jammu Development Authority Employees and Workers’ Union (JDAEWU) was held today by JDA employees here in front of Vikas Bhawan to focus the attention of authorities towards their genuine demands.
The protest was led by Rajinder Kumar, president of the union.
Addressing the protesting employees, Rajinder Kumar said the employees of JDA under the banner of the (JDAEWU) have been struggling since a long time for framing of non-gazetted rules and holding of DPC meeting but the secretary, JDA has always played a negative role in resolving the genuine demands of the employees.
He said they also raised the matter in October 2014 with Vice Chairman (VC) of JDA who had assured that the secretary will not repeat such practice in future but there is still no change in his attitude which is anti-employees.
While addressing the protesting employees, veteran Trade Union leader, Mohd Gaffoor Dar, who is the president of J&K National Trade Union Front appealed to JDA VC to intervene personally in the matter to set the things right.
Dar said if secretary, JDA, continues his negative approach, they will be left with no alternative except to approach highest level in the Government.
He also highlighted the demands of the employees including immediate holding of DPC and allotment of plots to the employees of JDA on the analogy of SDA Srinagar, framing of non-gazetted recruitment rules in JDA, regularization of contractual and consolidated employees including drivers working in the department and reverting to the old office timings from 8am to 2 pm in summer and from 10am to 4 pm in winters.
