JDA workers’ rally on June 6, fast continues

JAMMU, June 1: While the hunger strike of Jammu Development Authority employees continued at Rail Head Complex here, the workers’ union has decided to take out protest rally on June 6.
JDA) Employees Union which commenced its strike on May 22, 2012 in support of their demands, today announced to take out a peacefully rally on June 6, as the JDA administration has failed to fulfill their demands.
General secretary of the Union, Kuldeep Sharma giving details about the rally said that a peacefully rally would be taken out to the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu at 11:30 am. A memorandum of demands would be placed before him.
It is pertinent to mention here that the JDA employees under the banner of JDA employees Union, are sitting on hunger strike since May 28. They are demanding regularization of daily wagers and consolidated employees, clearance of pending SRO-43 cases, fixing of working hours from 8 am to 2 pm etc.
Those who sat on hunger strike today, included Ashok Singh, Avinash Gupta, Balbir Singh, Suresh Singh and Ajay Kumar.
