JAMMU, Mar 10: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today arrested a Junior Engineer-cum-technical Assistant in Rural Engineering wing of Gordhi block in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district for accepting Rs 14,000 as corruption for preparation of bill of payment on account of execution of work under MGNREGA scheme at Bindla, Ramnagar.
The arrested JE has been identified as Girdhari Lal son of Makholi Ram, a resident of Jandore, Ramnagar.
The Vigilance Organization came into action after receiving a complaint from Sham Lal son of Anant Ram R/o Bindla Ramnagar that the JE was demanding Rs 14,000 from him for releasing his payment.
The Vigilance sleuths laid trap against the JE and caught him red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 14,000 gratification from Sham Lal.
After completion of all formalities, the JE was arrested and shifted to Vigilance Organization’s police station. A case has been registered against him for further investigations.
The Vigilance Organization team in the trap was led by DySP Kamaljeet Singh.
