NEW DELHI, May 14: Jeera prices were up by 0.92 per cent to Rs 16,400 per quintal in futures trade today as investors enlarged their bets tracking improved export and physical demand.
Further, lower arrivals from growing regions also supported the jeera futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May was trading higher Rs 150, or 0.92 per cent, to Rs 16,400 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,551 lots.
Jeera for delivery in June contracts too rose by Rs 135, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 16,030 per quintal, as the open interest of contract stood at 5,004 lots.
Traders said speculative positions built up by participants amid rising domestic as well as export demand led to the rise in jeera prices. (PTI)
