SRINAGAR: Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at Sopore, in Baramulla that left four personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police dead.
In a statement to local media, a spokesman for the outfit said, ”The shaheed Afzal Guru” squad carried out the IED attack. Guru, who was awarded death sentence in Parliament attack case, was hanged and later buried in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 9, 2013.
The three deceased policemen have been identified as Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Irshad of Doda; Head Constable (HC) Mohammad Amin of Kupwara and constable Ghulam Nabi of Sopore. However, the identification of fourth policeman killed is being ascertained.
JeM has also claimed responsibility for the fidayeen attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in which five CRPF personnel were killed. All the three fidayeen were also gunned down in Pulwama on Sunday. (AGENCIES)
