Srinagar, Feb 2: Police today busted a module of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit involved in recent grenade attacks in Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal said that three persons were detained by police on suspicion for questioning on the recent grenade attacks in Sopore area.
He identified them as Ghulam Qadir Rather alias Kaisar son of Mohammad Shafi Rather of Tarzoo Sopore, Aijaz Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan of Naseem Bagh Sopore and Owais Khalid son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Naseem Bagh Krankshivan Sopore.
The SSP said that during the questioning, involvement of these three persons have surfaced, who confessed the commission of offence. “It was revealed that the JeM militants based in Sopore provided two grenades to these individuals for throwing on the security forces to cause life damage and injury to security personnel and installations and to instill fear among them, “he said.
He said that they were arrested formally and a case has been registered against them. “Investigation of the case is going on and more arrests are expected”, the SSP said.
He added that these persons were arrested as police was investigating the grenade throwing incident of 25th January on SBI Camp of 179 Battalion of CRPF. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded outside the camp in which no loss of life or injury has inflicted from either side.
The SSP further said that a case was subsequently filed under FIR NO 13/2019 U/S 307/RPC? 7/27 A act and investigation of the case was set into motion during which these arrests were made and module was busted.
