SRINAGAR, Aug 6: Police today arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammad militant (JeM) in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and recovered explosive material from his possession.
A police spokesman said the huge cache of incriminating material, including explosives, recovered from his possession were intended for militant strikes.
“Acting on specific input, police in Anantnag arrested one Muzamil Ahmad Dar aged 22 years son of Fayaz Ahmad Dar, resident of Bargam, Tral and recovered explosive materials. In this connection, case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bijbehara,” the spokesman said.
“During the course of investigation, huge cache of ammunition was recovered on his disclosure which included IED, Chinese grenade, hand grenades, detonators, mobile phones, battery 12-Volt, Safety fuse wire, cordex wire, safety fuse, black explosive, white explosive, circuit wire etc”, he added.
The accused, he said, was in touch with other militants of JeM. “They were planning future attacks,” he said.
Militants this evening fired at Special Police Officer (SPO) Ishaq Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohidin Bhat in his native village Lorow, Tral in Pulwama district. He, however, escaped unhurt in the attack.
Bhat was comming out of Masjid and militants asked him to stop but he ran away and they fired few shots towards him. The militants of the Hizbul Mujahideen had pasted posters in many villages of Tral in which the SPOs and policemen were warned.
