Srinagar Mar 6: In a startling revelation, one of the accused involved in Pulwama attack has disclosed to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that Jaish-e-Mohammad has procured chemicals for making explosives and other accessories used for the car bombing from Amazon online shopping website.
This has come up during the interrogation of an accused involved in last year’s Pulwama attack on CRPF convoy. The NIA arrested Waizul Islam Ganai, 19, son of Ghulam Haider Ganai of Bagh-e-Mehtab, Srinagar early this week and during initial interrogation he has disclosed that he used his Amazon online shopping account to procure chemicals for making IEDs, batteries and other accessories for Pulwama car bomb attack on the directions of the Pakistani JeM militants.
NIA has established through forensic investigation that the explosives used in the attack were Ammonium Nitrate, Nitro-Glycerin and RDX.
The NIA in a statement said that Ganai has also personally delivered the items to the JeM militants after procuring the incriminating material online as a part of the conspiracy to carry out the Pulwama attack.
The NIA arrested him early this week along with Mohammad Abbas Rather, 32, son of Mohammad Ramzan Rather of Hakripora, Pulwama. They were arrested during separate raids on their houses in Srinagar and Pulwama respectively.
The NIA said that Abbas Rather is an old Over-Ground Worker (OGW) of JeM. He has disclosed that he gave shelter at his home to Jaish militant Mohammad Umar, an IED expert, after Umar came to Kashmir in April-May 2018.
He further told NIA that he also harboured JeM militants Adil Ahmad Dar, Sameer Ahmed Dar and Kamran (Pakistani) at his house a number of times in the run up to the Pulwama attack. He also facilitated safe shelter for the JeM militants, including the suicide bomber Adil Ahmed Dar and others at the house of the accused Tariq Ahmed Shah and his daughter Insha Jan of Hakripora, Pulwama, who have already been arrested early this month.
The NIA said that Gania and Bhat shall be produced before the NIA Special Court at Jammu tomorrow.
Earlier last month, NIA achieved a major breakthrough in Pulwama attack by arresting an OGW Shakir Bashir Magrey who provided logistical assistance to the suicide bomber Adil Dar.
The furniture shop owner Magrey provided shelter and other logistical assistance to the suicide-bomber Adil Ahmad Dar. He was introduced to Adil Ahmad Dar in mid-2018 by a Pakistani militant Mohammad Umar Farooq and he became a full-time OGW of JeM. He, on several occasions, collected and delivered arms, ammunition, cash and explosive material to the JeM militants including those involved in Pulwama attack. He was also involved in modifying the Maruti Eeco car and fitting the IED in it in early February, 2019.
