JAMMU, Oct 10: A delegation of Jammu Hotel Restaurant Association (JHRA), Jammu met BB Vyas, Advisor to Governor, here today and submitted a memorandum demanding all those benefits for the restaurants and hotels, which the tourism industry should get.
The delegation members said that though Government has declared tourism as industry yet hotels and restaurants are not getting all those benefits which an industry gets in the State. They said that tourism industry is in bad shape in Jammu since the movement of trains to Katra. There is hardly any tourist which visits Jammu due to which hotels and other allied businesses are suffering a lot.
“The Government has also failed in promoting Jammu as an independent tourism destination as many big tourism projects of Jammu are hanging in balance due to Government apathy”, the delegation members said and appealed the Advisor to provide all industry benefits like relaxation in power tariff to hotels and restaurants of the State. They also emphasized to pay back the GST paid by the hotels as industry benefit.
