JAMMU, May 24: BSP J&K general secretary and media head, Rajesh Gupta has claimed that J&K UT administration was responsible for increasing deaths in road accidents in the UT.
In a handout Gupta stated that despite repeated road accidents in J&K the administration seems least bothered in this regard.
“The poor condition of roads in hilly areas makes them risky,” he maintained adding: “Numerous lives have been lost in J&K due to road accidents and many people have suffered severe injuries due to such accidents.”
The BSP leader also said that functioning of traffic authorities and Motor Vehicle Department is also questionable here.
“J&K witnessed a significant number of fatalities last year due to road accidents marking the highest toll in a decade and it becomes essential to address the issue of road accidents,” he continued.
Gupta claimed that a road safety awareness tour was flagged off on May 2, 2024 from Raj Bhawan Srinagar and just 21 days after that we lost many precious lives in road accidents.
