J&K among 2 states to be promoted by MEA in Muscat

SRINAGAR:
Jammu and Kashmir has been chosen among one of the two states by the country, to be promoted by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in Muscat.
This information was given by Ambassador of India to Oman Indra Mani Pandey, who called on  Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, here today. During the meeting, the envoy briefed the Chief Minister about the MEA’s new initiative of assigning Indian Ambassadors to individual states, to be promoted in the country of their posting.
The Indian Ambassador has chosen J&K for promotion in the Gulf state of Oman. He is expected to meet the Chief Secretary later, to frame modalities for increasing footfall of tourists from Oman to J&K and promoting export of famed handicraft products to the Gulf nation.
The Chief Minister observed that Middle East countries hold great potential for export of handicraft products as well as flow of tourists to J&K, for which the State Government will extend all facilities to strengthen the linkage.
The MEA has created a separate wing headed by a Joint Secretary, that will work to promote different states of the country through its consulates all over the world.  (AGENCIES)
