THIMPHU (Bhutan), Dec 19: J&K Cultural group, organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, performed two shows in Bhutan in connection with Bhutan’s National Day and also the 60th birth anniversary of the fourth Druk Gyalpo of Bhutan
The first show was held at the Clock Tower square, Thimphu where on a large stage, the artists of Jammu & Kashmir vibrated the entire city with their magnifying performances. The people of Bhutan witnessed the first ever performance of the artists of Jammu and Kashmir and were thrilled to see the amazing diversity and vibrant colours of the cultures of J&K.
The second show was held at DYS auditorium where Lyonpo (Minister), Ngeema Sangay, Labour and Human Resource, Lyonmpo C Dorji, and Lyonmpo Nado Rinzin from Royal Privy Council, Dashos DG Traditional Medicines, Chief Liberian, officers from Embassy of India and other distinguished guests attended the programme. The troupe was led by Anil Tickoo and Malkit Chand, Director Indian Cultural Centre, Bhutan, coordinated the shows.
The artists of J&K who participated in this event, included Anil Tickoo, Akash Dogra, Sunny Mujoo, Aarti Verma, Rocky, Rupali Rai, Sunakshi Gandotra, Srijna Bhasin, Deepak Kumar, Monika Sharma, Jyoti Kumari, and Anita Kumari.
Describing this as a historic occasion, the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu Balwant Thakur who conceptualized and devised this unique presentation of J&K artists, informed that each dance presentation despite being different from the other in rhythm and pace was artistically blended with each other so as to present their harmony and co-relation.
Starting with vibrant Kashmiri ‘Rouf’, the programme transported the audiences to a most rejoicing journey of the state of Jammu & Kashmir, unfolding spectacular dance traditions of Kashmiri, Dogri, Gojari, Pahari and Ladakhi cultures. The programme culminated through the presentation of a mega performance ‘Unity in diversity of J&K’, exclusively designed and composed to portray the harmony and the cultural co-existence of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
