J&K Bank convenes DLRC meet, conducts fin lit camp

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: J&K Bank today convened a District Level Review Committee meeting at Anantnag to review the performance of banks, financial institutions and other line departments in implementation of Annual Credit Plan (ACP) 2012-13 for the quarter ended September 30, 2012.
The meeting was chaired by Additional District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Nissar Hussain.
The meeting was attended by the heads of all line departments, banks, financial institutions besides MLC Nizam-u-Din Khatana, CPO Anantnag Mohammad Yousuf Tantray and AGM RBI, Rakesh Raina.
Lead District Manager (LDM) Mufti Ghulam Mohammad informed the house about progress in the quarter under review.
He said that 35.34% of target was achieved in priority sector advances amounting Rs 133.32 crore against target of Rs.377.28 crore for current financial year.
The achievement in agriculture sector was 45.40%, he added.
Regarding KCC, he said, out of 33183 sponsored cases Banks have sanctioned and issued 23457 cards to the farmers involving Rs.80.66 crore during the quarter.
During the quarter, the deposits have increased by 14.19 % to Rs.2306.00 crore and advances have grown to Rs.1003.43 crore witnessing an increase of 16.45%.
Notably, J&K Bank has retained its 80% market share among all the banks in the District.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DLRC, Nissar Hussain stressed upon the need for total implementation of ACP and directed all the banks and line departments to gear up to achieve targets before end of current financial year.
He expressed dismay over the progress during the quarter under review.
He advised all participants to educate unemployed youth for establishment of income generating units so that the grave problem of unemployment can be addressed seriously.
He cautioned the banks and departments against creating unnecessary hurdles in implementation of various schemes.
Meanwhile, FLCC centre Budgam organized a financial literacy camp at village Shoolipora, which was attended by a good gathering of people.
