J&K Bank refuses funds for Brari Nambal Lagoon

SRINAGAR, June 25: Government today revealed that Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited refused to release any funds for the conservation of Brari Nambal Lagoon which it earlier intended to take under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
In a written reply to a question of MLA Shameem Firdous in Lower House, Minister incharge Housing and Urban Development Department stated that J&K Bank has assured SMC that they will provide some funds for the development of Brari Nambal Lagoon and accordingly tenders were floated for hiring the service of consultant for framing the DPR, but later on, the bank authorities refused to release any funds for the purpose.
“Now, LAWDA has been asked to recast the project and prepare project in consultation with UEED for sewerage/ drainage management around the Lagoon and also for beautification of Lagoon, this component has been projected under AMRUT State annual action Plan 2016-17 which has been submitted to Union Ministry of Urban Development for approval,” the Minister stated.
The Minister further stated that project report conservation/ cleaning of Brari Nambal Lagoon has been prepared by LAWDA at an estimated cost of Rs. 71.60 crore.
