SRINAGAR, Feb 24: J&K Bank has been awarded Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Award by ABP News in the category of Community Service at a ceremony in Mumbai last week coinciding with the World CSR Day being celebrated every year on February 17.
The Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Awards recognize outstanding achievements in economic, environmental and social dimensions by identifying and rewarding exemplary businesses in various aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility.
Mushtaq Ahmad, Chairman and CEO, J&K Bank described the award as a recognition of Bank’s unrelenting commitment to the community welfare through innovative intervention. “Though our CSR is primarily aimed at grass root level mobilization towards prosperity and collective wellbeing, yet we see such felicitations and awards as encouraging statements from the society”.
“The Award will further revitalize our energies to work for individual empowerment and collective prosperity”, he added.
J&K Bank was commended for its work in the field of CSR with special reference to one of its outstanding community development projects KOSHISH. The project was launched by the Bank last year along with a leading NGO of international repute Child Rights and You (CRY) Delhi to meet the nutritional, health and educational needs of the children of forty far flung areas of three districts of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal.
On the basis of baseline research, the overall number of children to be covered for these basic needs is more than 9200 from over 5000 households. Project is likely to have a long-term impact on the society with particular reference to under-privileged children in their survival, participation, development and protection.
Notably, the award was received by S S Sehgal, senior president and Bank’s Zonal Head Mumbai on behalf of the bank.
