Jammu, Feb 23:  The J&K Branch of Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has been conferred an award for commendable performance in Small Branches category for the Calendar Year 2014.
The award was presented in the presence of  Mahesh Giri, MP Delhi and Vijendra Gupta, MLA Delhi East to the Office Bearers , CA Vikram Garg (Chairman ) , CA Shalay Razdan (Secretary), CA Anil Sharma (Treasurer ) and CA Dalip Kaul past chairman at a function at Indian Habitat Centre New Delhi.
Central Council Members, Office Bearers and Executive Members of NIRC  were also present at the occasion.
CA Vikram Garg, Chairman of the J&K Branch highlighted the various initiatives taken by the branch during the past year and stressed on the contribution made by Chartered Accountants to the economy of the State.
The  branch successfully conducted numerous continuing professional education programs and workshops where eminent speakers participated from all over the country. Senior Chartered Accountants of the Branch were felicitated to recognise their professional contribution. Various activities for students of chartered accountancy were undertaken. Most importantly J&K branch also constructed building for its members and students at canal road which was appreciated as an important achievement by the dignitaries.
Recognising its contribution towards society, Blood donation camps were organised on CA Day. Donations were also made to the SOS Children’s Village in Channi.
These awards have been instituted to recognize the commitment and efforts of the State Level Branches of NIRC in taking Chartered Accountants growth agenda forward. The evaluation is done by eminent jury members based on a branch’s performance on pre- decided criteria.
