JAMMU, Mar 14: The J&K Budget worth Rs 1.18 lakh crore presented by the Union Finance Minister on Monday has evoked mixed reaction in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
BJP J&K unit vice president, Yudhvir Sethi, termed the Annual Budget of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory presented by FM Nirmala Sitharaman as futuristic and development oriented as 35 percent has been earmarked for the development and infrastructure besides proving to be a game changer for agriculture sector as Rs 900 crore have been kept for sector’s development apart from Rs 120 crore for crop insurance.
The party vice president was speaking as Party’s Shakti Kendra Pramukh during a meeting held here in Jagti town.
Hailing the budget tabled by FM, the senior BJP functionary said that the budget is going to help the pace of development in the Union Territory as necessary provisions have been ensured by the concerned minister to realize the dream of PM Narendra Modi to usher in era of peace and progress in the region.
Highlighting the Rs 200 crore earmarked for Mission Youth Programme, the BJP leader asserted that this will contribute in changing the course of lives of youths of the Union Territory as this section of the society needs the most from the government.
National Conference Provincial president Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta while reacting to the J&K Budget said that it has disappointed the people of Jammu and Kashmir as it has nothing new for J&K and is not in any way upto the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Gupta said this while addressing workers in Bishnah today. NC leader stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had a lot of expectations from the Govt on appropriation of funds to this Union Territory and more than that they were waiting for some novel schemes and measures that would address the burning issues pertaining to unemployment, tourism, trade, education, industries sector, agriculture and other crucial civic issues of J&K but it turned out to be a big flop show leaving them in utter disappointment.
Terming the J&K Budget 2023-24 as cruel joke, Rattan Lal said it is a fine blend of jugglery of words so that it seems to be a good budget to the common people. “To sum it all in one sentence the budget allocation to Jammu and Kashmir ensures that the poor become poorer and the rich become richer. This is an irony of the J&K people,” he lamented.
Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) president, Lalit Mahajan discussed the JKUT Budget 2023-24 with the Executive members of the BBIA and termed the budget as most beneficial for Industry sector here. He said allocation of Rs. 400 crores for the development of New Industrial Estates, Rs 500 crores provision for GST re-imbursement and Turnover Incentives for existing industrial units, are welcome steps.
BBIA hoped that with the allocation of Rs 400 crores for the development of new Industrial Estates and allocation of funds for the Power Infrastructure in the Budget, the works in the new Industrial Estates like road connectivity, Power infrastructure and other allied tasks would be completed in time bound manner so that the prospective investors may start production.
