SRINAGAR, Oct 26: Advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Nasir Aslam Wani, stated today that the conditions in J&K are unique and that it will not operate under “dual control.”
“J&K cannot operate under dual control; it doesn’t work like having the LG oversee the security grid while the rest is handled by the CM,” Wani told reporters at a function here.
The Advisor said that people of J&K have high expectations from the new Government and that it will strive to meet them.
He expressed hope that Statehood will be restored soon, describing it as essential for J&K, which he said has distinct circumstances.
Regarding the Chief Minister’s meetings with the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and other national leaders, Nasir noted the importance of addressing the issues facing J&K.
“The CM’s meetings with other leaders and Ministers are crucial so that the issues affecting J&K can be resolved. Everyone has assured cooperation with the J&K Government to help address these issues,” he stated. Click here to watch video
On public expectations from the new Government, the Advisor said that, after five years, J&K now has an elected Government, which will work to fulfill its promises.
“People have expectations, and we will do everything possible to meet them. We are committed to delivering on our promises, but there is a need for some patience,” he said.
He noted that the Government took office recently and has been working for eight days. “We are dedicated to fulfilling what we have promised to the people,” he affirmed.
The Advisor also called for patience from the opposition, urging them to give the Government time to work.
“Yesterday’s protest was unnecessary. The opposition should also exercise patience; there was no need for the protest at all,” he said.
Earlier, Nasir Aslam Wani inaugurated exhibition titled ‘Revelations” – Artful insights’ at City Mall, Lal Chowk.
Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor appreciated the noble mission and motive of the organiser of the event. “Such initiatives greatly help the society towards protection, promotion and preservation of our age old cultural legacy and identity”, he maintained.
The organisers, Second Lives Art Guild, is an art group which comprises of self taught artists. The event has been organised to showcase their talent and inspire people especially young generation to evolve and polish their talent and hobbies by keeping their passion alive for inherent talent and skills for which Kashmir is famous globally.
The group’s motto is to inspire masses to explore nature, art, culture, heritage and to scale off the screen time and gadgets.
The exhibition will culminate on 27th of October.
Director, Handicrafts & Handlooms Kashmir, Mehmood Shah and Former Dean Faculty of Fine Arts, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Professor Zargar Zahoor were also present on the occasion.
The artists included Dr. Jehangir Aslam, Er.Shazia Basharat, Er. Nabi, Saqib Kachroo and other young guest artists like Falak Iqbal, Iqra Shabaan, Sameer Shafi and Umar Hassan.
