JAMMU, Aug 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust (JKDT) has successfully completed the restoration and renovation of the historic Rani Samadhis Complex, a key cultural landmark in Jammu city.
The project, which aimed at restoring the heritage site to its former grandeur, involved extensive work on the Samadhis of the Royal Dogra Maharanis of the erstwhile J&K State, including the Samadhi of Maharani Tara Devi, wife of Maharaja Hari Singh, and mother of Dr Karan Singh, as well as an ancient Shiv Temple.
Over the past year, Trustee Martand Singh personally oversaw the project, conducting regular site visits and reviews to ensure timely and high-quality work.
The restoration included structural improvements, reinforcement of the Samadhis, installation of drainage systems, aesthetic enhancements, and comprehensive beautification of the surroundings.
Speaking on the project’s completion, Martand Singh highlighted the critical role of the JKDT in preserving the region’s heritage.
He described the Rani Samadhi as more than just a historical monument, but as a tribute to the Dogra Maharanis and a symbol of Jammu’s rich cultural legacy.
“By restoring it, we honor our ancestors and inspire future generations to take pride in their heritage,” Singh stated, reaffirming the Trust’s commitment to preserving Jammu’s cultural treasures.
The Rani Samadhis Complex, with its deep historical significance, has long been an important cultural landmark in Jammu.
The successful restoration by the JKDT reflects the Trust’s dedication to maintaining the sanctity and historical value of this Royal Dogra legacy.
