Srinagar, Oct 14: All the districts in Jammu and Kashmir achieved the target of vaccinating the 18+ population while at the same time around 45 per cent of the total population in the category has received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
As per figures, J&K has achieved 100% per cent coverage in the 18 and above category, while over 82000 doses of the vaccine were administered across the UT during the day.
Figures revealed that over 56000vaccination doses were administered alone in Kashmir Division across 1237 vaccination sites, while as over 25000 doses of the vaccine were administered in Jammu Division during the day across 941 vaccination sites.
A total number of 24093 first doses in the 18 and above category were administered in Kashmir while over 32000 second doses were also administered during the day. In Jammu, over 10000 first doses of the COVID vaccine were administered during the day, while over 15000 second doses of the vaccine were also administered throughout the day.
As per the official figures, the estimated population of the 18 and above category in J&K is 9,303,842 out of which 9,323,928 have been given the first dose of the COVID vaccine.
In this regard, the districts celebrated the feat on the directions of the Director Health Services in Kashmir, during which the healthcare workers who have been at the forefront of the vaccination drive.
In Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla Deputy Commissioners presided over a ceremony for felicitation of health workers for achieving the targets of vaccinating people.
The Deputy Commissioners expressed gratitude towards all stakeholders particularly health workers, PRIs and senior citizens for providing special coordination in the achievement the vaccination target in the districts.
In Baramulla, the CMO informed that a total of 764541 people were covered in this nationwide campaign of above 18 age group and Health Department teams zealously participated in it and vaccinating people in the far-flung areas that included hilly and mountainous regions, schools and colleges besides making door to door vaccinations.
While appreciating the efforts of the COVID warriors, DC Bandipora Dr Owais said the healthcare worker, officials of the Rural Development Department, Urban local Bodies and Education Department worked tirelessly in a coordinated manner to fight the pandemic.
