J&K employees seek return from Ladakh UT

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, June 9: Many employees from Kashmir and Jammu provinces serving in UT of Ladakh for the last more than two years now have demanded their return and posting in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The employees from Jammu and Kashmir, serving there in Ladakh in a representation to the J&K UT Administration have said that they were posted in erstwhile Ladakh region before August 5, 2019. Many of them have completed more than two and some even three years of service, while their tenure is of just two years.
They further pointed out that after the creation of J&K and Ladakh UTs, the General Administration Department had issued a circular asking employees to give their choice of posting either in Ladakh or J&K UTs. They said most of them had opted J&K as they belonged to Kashmir and Jammu regions. Moreover, can not stay for long there due to harsh winters conditions and high altitude area. Many of them have developed health problems.
These employees pointed out that they had submitted their choices about 7-8 months ago but unfortunately the GAD has not bothered to issue an order in this regard and place them back to their respective regions Kashmir and Jammu. They urged upon the Lt Governor of J&K UT and Chief Secretary to place them as per the choice/ option forwarded by them to the Government.
They said on the request of Ladakh MP , JT Namgyal all the employees hailing from Ladakh and working in J&K, have been sent back to their UT but it is very unfortunate that no leader or MP from Jammu has come forward to their rescue / help. They sought the intervention of MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and Jammu BJP MP, Jugal Kishore into the matter.
