J&K Ex-Services League holds AGM, discusses issues

JAMMU, May 29: Jammu & Kashmir Ex-Services League held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today in the League Head Office at Amphalla and discussed various concerning Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris.
At the outset of the meeting, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, the present president of the League handed over the baton to Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma, (JAK Li) by introducing him to the members of the house.
Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma assured the members that he will leave no stone unturned and go wherever he is required to go for the acceptance of the issues of Ex-Servicemen, fight for the land for the Sainik HSG Colonies, reservations, annuities and revival of the Sainik Vanaspati.
The new president of the League asked the district presidents and the delegates to enroll the new Ex-Servicemen. He also asked them to become members of J&K Ex-Servicemen Patrika which has lot of information for them, for their families and for their children regarding future opportunities, health and particularly about their pensions and medical problems and how to handle the social media.
The President was happy to note that some very useful and important points have been put up like Medicine shortages, up gradation of ECHS, providing medical cover in certain remote areas, canteen problems particularly in Reasi where there is a need of mobile canteens. The President assured the members to take it up with the Army Commanders of Northern & Western Command and also with 16 and 9 Corps Commanders and hoped that their problems will be resolved.
Highlighting the issue of Sainik Housing Colonies, Col Kulbir Jamwal said that the Government had promised to give land for the Colonies but have only given 165 Kanal against 4000 Kanals and therefore the colonies are held up, although 30 Crores of Rupees have been deposited with the Government in last 20 years.
