J&K excelling in healthcare delivery at all levels: Jt Secy MoHFW

Srinagar, July 8: Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Lav Agarwal today said that J&K was doing great in terms of healthcare service delivery while impressing the need for increased focus on the National Dialysis Program in the UT.
Agarwal was reviewing the progress of National Health Schemes during a high-level meeting of officers at Old Secretariat, Srinagar which was attended by the Mission Director NHM, Yaseen Chowdhary who joined through video conferencing, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather besides other officers and officials of the health department.
Agarwal in his remarks said J&K is doing a wonderful job as far as the health indicators are concerned and is providing health care services to the people at all levels.
He stressed that focus should be given to Central Sponsored Schemes being run by the Government of India and providing better health care to the people.
The Joint Secretary said the government can strive for TB-free Kashmir in the next two years, only if the government-sponsored schemes are implemented at the grass-root level properly.
During the meeting, he stressed the need for increased focus on the National Dialysis Program and also on the National NCD programs while expressing happiness over the health care services being provided to the people of UT Jammu and Kashmir.
He further said the center is committed and willing to provide funds and logistic support at every level for quality patient care services while appreciating the efforts of medical staff, health care workers especially, the front line workers.
Agarwal also stressed that the Ayushman Bharat scheme should be fully implemented and the use of information technology should be encouraged to make people aware of it.
MD NHM Yaseen Chowdhary gave a detailed presentation of the national schemes being implemented by the National Health Mission in J&K and presented a detailed functioning of these schemes in the hospitals.
During the meeting, DHSK, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Rather gave a detailed overview regarding health care arrangements that have been made by the department for the ongoing Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Dr. MA Rather also gave a detailed overview of the activities being carried out by the health department in hospitals across the Kashmir valley.
SSO Dr. Talat briefed the Joint Secretary about the Covid-19 management and its mitigation by the health care workers of the health department. In the end Chief Medical Officer Srinagar (CMO) Dr. Jameel Ahmad Mir presented a vote of thanks.
