J&K gets first woman bus driver

Watching her on the wheels of a passenger bus with quite ease, confidence and dexterity was a feast to the eyes when the first woman driver, a mother of two children accompanied by her toddler son drove passengers from Kathua to Jammu whizzing past the busy route where even the most experienced drivers are very careful while driving. Pooja Devi hailing from Kathua, thus became the first woman driver of Jammu and Kashmir, breaking the myth that women cannot drive passenger buses in an era when Indian women were flying jet fighters.
She, turning emotional while talking to a reporter said that the passion to drive was in her right from young teen age so much so that she wished to have been born as a male child instead because everyone right from her home, discouraged her from taking to such a challenging profession. However, she learnt, practiced, took the driving test and qualified to obtain a driving licence hence her maiden passenger bus drive on December 26. We wish her best of luck and safe driving.
