J&K Govt allocates Rs 520 crore to Urban Dev dept for 2014

JAMMU :  An amount of Rs 520 crore has been allocated to the Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies department this year for new and ongoing projects under it, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was informed today.

J&K Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora said this while replying to a question in the Legislative Council.

He also informed the House that about 14 projects costing Rs 823 crore were sponsored during 2013-14 for which an amount of Rs 109.38 crore stands released.

Under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission scheme, Jora said 150 buses of varied versions were purchased from Tata Motors Limited in the year 2010 and have been placed at the disposal of J&K State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) for operations and maintenance.

As reported by the Managing Director of J&K SRTC, the buses are in operation on inter-state and inter-district routes, besides plying between Jammu and Srinagar, he said. (AGENCIES)
