JAMMU, Feb 4: PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the ‘Jammu & Kashmir Green Banking Conference’, here today.
Shankar A Pande, Chief General Manager, NABARD was the chief guest of the conference. Other distinguished speakers, who were present during the inaugural session were, Arvind Gupta, vice president, J & K Bank, L Mir, former DGM, Punjab National Bank and Deepankar Sen Gupta, HoD, Economics, Jammu University.
A Panel discussion on “Exploring Green Banking Solutions: Opportunities & Challenges” was also held as part of the Conference. An eminent panel, comprising of Savita Gupta, General Manger, IDBI Bank, Mumbai, Dr Pawanesh Abrol from the Deptt. of IT, Jammu University, Kumar Vinod Chandra, Chief Manager, Union Bank of India, Sunil Parihar, Asst vice president, Axis Bank Ltd, Rahul Jalali, Editor, Media Net and Raghuveer Korimerla, Asst, Manager, IDBI Bank shared their expert views on this very pertinent topic.
Vikrant Kuthiala, Chairman, J & K Committee PHD Chamber delivered the welcome address at the Conference.
Banks and financial institutions hold a major and decisive role to facilitate sustainable economic growth and “Green Banking” is one of such initiatives being promoted by Reserve Bank of India and the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. PHD Chamber, while pursuing its contributing role to the industry and the banking sector, had organized two successful conferences on Green Banking this year at Lucknow and Patna and the third in this series was held at Jammu.
