JAMMU, Feb 4: Ace gymnasts of the State namely Mitali Dogra, Palak Kour, Mridul Gupta and Pawandeep Kour displayed extraordinary skill to beat the best in the Country and clinch rhythmic gymnastics team gold in the ongoing 35th National Games, being held at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
The silver medal in this event was bagged by Maharashtra, while the bronze medal went to Punjab.
The State team created history by winning first ever gold in gymnastics team event at the National scene.
The gymnastics team is being accompanied by S P Singh and Krupali Singh as coaches.
The State team performed in the presence of chef-de-mission, HS Gill; Deputy chef-de-mission, S S Gill; president JKOA, Rangil Singh and Government observers Ranjeet Kalra and Prof B A Shah, besides Chief Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council, Abdul Qayoom and general secretary JKOA, Ashutosh Sharma.
Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Dileep Thussu and Chief Sports Officer, Abdul Qayoom lauded the efforts of the players and their coaches for this outstanding show.
Meanwhile, the experts while expressing satisfaction over this landmark achievement hoped this performance will go a long way in motivating budding gymnasts to bring laurels to the State at the National and International scene in future.
