JAMMU : Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council today elected a new Chairman and Deputy Chairman and it was later adjourned sine die. PDP MLC from Kargil, Haji Inayat Ali was unanimously elected as Chairman while Congress MLC Jahangir Hussain Mir was elected as his Deputy. Mr Mir was already appointed as acting Chairman of the Legislative Council after the completion of term of outgoing Chairman Amrit Malhotra on March 31. Meanwhile, the names of Mr Ali and Mr Mir were proposed by the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar and seconded by BJP MLC Ramesh Arora. Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed congratulated the new Chairman and his Deputy. However, as per the notification issued by the Secretary Council Mohammad Ashraf Mir, the House was adjourned sine die. (AGENCIES)
