JK Medical Council embarks on digital journey with end-to-end online portal

JAMMU, Oct 28: The newly constituted J&K Medical Council took off with issuance of fully digital certificates by Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Vivek Bharadwaj.
End –to-end complete online process was first major intervention by the Additional Chief Secretary after taking over the charge of the Department. The whole process has been designed taking into account the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), a major reform initiated by the Government of UT headed by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
J&K Medical Council was recently notified by the J&K Government on 20th of October 2021 and within one week it has started it’s full-fledged operations in a complete end to end digital process whereby the applicants will be able to submit the application online, make payment online and also get the certificate delivered to him online itself after the due diligence is performed at the JK Medical Council level.
After its reconstitution, the J&K Medical Council have constituted several committees including Academic Committee headed by Dr Mohammad Iqbal Sofi (Medical Superintendent, GMC Anantnag), Ethics cum Grievance Committee headed by Dr Chanderlekha and Disciplinary Committee headed by Dr Rajeshwar Sharma (Medical Superintendent, CD Hospital, Jammu).
Different certifications such as Provisional, Permanent and Additional will be provided online by the J&K Medical Council. Besides this, other documents such as No Objection Certificate, Good Standing Certificates, Duplicate Certificate, Verifications, CME registration can also be obtained online itself.
Internal operations of the Council such as such as verification, Registrar Approval and President’s approval etc will also be done on the Portal with due process. The Council will work both at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu and Bemina in Srinagar.
The newly reconstituted Council is headed by Dr Saleem Ur Rehman (Director General, Health and Family Welfare, J&K) and also includes Dr Mohammad Iqbal Sofi, Dr Rajeshwar Sharma and Dr Chanderlekha (Retired District Health Officer, Jammu).
