J&K must be part of developmental programme scripted by PM: Dr Jitendra

JAMMU, Jan 14: In a veiled message to the political class in the State, Union Minister of State with independent charge for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr Jitendra Singh today said that J&K must be a part of developmental programme scripted by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country.
Dr Singh who was talking to reporters at the sidelines of a function at Ved Mandir Ambphalla here, today held in connection with inaugural function of `Ved Amrit Pravah’ (Nectrine Vedic Discourses Series), said entire country is moving forward on the path of development at a very fast pace and Jammu and Kashmir should not miss this opportunity.
Dr Singh said a series of path breaking initiatives announced by the Modi Government during the last one and a half year are aimed at benefiting the   common man, the farmers, the youth and the poorest of the poor.
“The entire nation is on the path of development and J&K should not remain deprived of that” Dr Singh said in reply to a question.
Dr Singh said “across the party line I wish that entire State should be part of development programme started by Prime Minister”.
Earlier addressing the function Dr Singh said entire nation is marching on the path of development programme initiated by Modi Government and it is the duty of us all to see that J&K does not lag behind and becomes the part of this programme.
He said the developmental programmes including Jan Dhan Yojna, Mudra Yojana, social security schemes, and the most recent Pradan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna announced yesterday will change the fate of common man. It would therefore be a great misfortune if the State of J&K does not take the maximum benefit of these welfare schemes, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, rising above the political lines, all of us across the spectrum should join together to make J&K an essential part of India’s development journey led by Mr Modi.
While referring to today’s function Dr Jitendra Singh said that Vedas are not mere epics but are indeed the basic fundamental guide books which teach is as to how we can contribute to the best of our ability and potential in whatever spheres of activity we are. It is therefore important to understand and realize the versatile utility of Vedas in diverse fields including science, economics and politics, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh suggested to the Management Committee of Ved Mandir to prepare a detailed documents for setting up of the proposed institute which can be taken up with the Union HRD Ministry for further perusal.
On his behalf, Dr Jitendra Singh announced that all the young children numbering around 125, who are studying in the schools run by the Ved Mandir Committee, will be given free Insurance cover from his personal sources.
Dr Gautam Mengi, president of the Trust while speaking on behalf of the Management Committee, recalled that the land for the complex was donated by the then Maharaja of J&K over 80 years ago and called upon all the like-minded citizens to come forward and cooperate in building a seat of learning in the premises which would be a befitting tribute to its founding fathers.
Prof Vishwamurty presided over the function and dwelt on the teachings of Vedas.
He lucidly brought out profound truth with which Vedas are replete and laid emphasis to lead a value-based life of truth and righteousness to bring peace and prosperity in the society.
The students of Ved Mandir Bal Niketan, Balika-Niketan and Ved Vidyalaya children also participated in the function.
Others present on the occasion included Brig (retd) Suchet Singh, Prof Chander Mouli Raina, former Union Minister, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, Amarchand Gupta, R C Gupta, Capt (retd) Purshotam Sharma Bal Krishan Gupta and K K Mengi.
