JAMMU, Mar 28: A peaceful protest rally was taken out today in Jammu City by J&K OBCs’ United Front, demanding 27 percent reservation in Government jobs for OBC community in Jammu and Kashmir.
Holding placards and banners in their hands, a large number of members of the J&K OBCs’ United Front participated in the rally and raised slogans in support of the major demand of implementation of Mandal Commission Report in J&K.
The protesting members said that that they are demanding no big thing but their due share due share of reservation by implementing Mandal Commission report in J&K as promised by BJP after abrogation of Article 370. They said when all the Central laws have been implemented in J&K UT then why only 4 % reservation is being given since 2020 which was elevated from 2% to 4% without any logic to the OBCs in UT where no census/survey has been done so far.
The speakers said that the local BJP unit is doing only false propaganda over the OBC’s quota since 2014 and befooling them for vested interests. They alleged that OBC community has lost its faith in BJP and the promises made never fulfilled. No employment is being provided to the educated youth, and just hollow promises are made.
“The Government should implement reservation quota of OBC people in J&K at par with that in other States of the country,” they maintained and added that being economically and socially backwards, the OBC people should be given their constitutionally guaranteed rights. All the speakers resolved to fight tooth and nail for their constitutional rights.
Meanwhile, a similar protest rally was taken out by the OBCs in Kashmir, urging the Government to implement the Mandal Commission recommendations in J&K. Several people from the OBCs United Front appeared in the Press Enclave and were seen holding placards and said that for the last 70 years they were deprived of all the opportunities and the consecutive Government provided them with just 2% reservation.
“Across the country, the OBCs are getting 27% reservation, why are we being side-lined in J&K,” they said while demanding immediate implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations in J&K.
