J&K Paramedical Council orders hold-up of registration to various Universities

Srinagar, May 22: The J&K Paramedical Council (JKPC) has ordered a suspension of the issuance of JKPC Registration to several Universities for the candidates who have not complied with the circular directions issued in this regard by the council.
In this connection, the officials said that in compliance with directions issued earlier by the JKPC regarding the suspension of Paramedical / Nursing Council Registration, Jammu, Srinagar, the Universities / Deemed to be Universities which are nearly 20 in number, have submitted the requisite approvals from University Grants Commission (UGC) and other competent authorities for running the Degree Courses.
However, they said that it has been observed that the said Universities have been approved by UGC under relevant Act(s), rules, and norms and thereby awarding the Degree Certificates to the candidates are considered to be genuine and authentic.
The officials said that some Universities are still not complying with the instructions as having been passed in a circular issued earlier and a reply to the communication letter(s) from concerned Universities is still awaited.
“It has been decided that the issuance of Registration Certificates to the Candidates for the Universities who have not submitted the required documents in compliance to the directives shall be still kept on hold till submission of the required approvals for running the Paramedical / Nursing Degree Courses.”
Further, the JKPC has directed that the issuance of Registrations from J&K Paramedical / Nursing Council to the other Universities which have submitted the required documents, and the candidates who have applied for issuance of registration will be issued subject to terms and conditions laid.
Concerning the conditions laid down by the Council, the incumbent(s) have to meet norms and criteria for Registration in toto, i.e PCB (Physics, Chemistry Biology) for all Paramedical / Nursing Degree Courses.
The incumbent(s) must have taken the course of study through the main campus of the University only and the candidate (s) must have completed their course through a regular mode of study.
“In case the incumbents have taken the course of study through any Study Centre or off-Campus as the case may be: in that event, the Study Centre / College / Campus should be approved by the University Grants Commission as per the norms, otherwise the Degree so obtained shall not be considered for issuance of the registration.”
Meanwhile, the J&K Paramedical / Nursing Council said that it has noticed that the varsities which are exempted, are running non-attending classes, and unauthorized campus and Study Centres, without prior approval of University Grants Commission (UGC) and other competent authorities required as per norms.
“The issuance of registration in favor of the candidates of that particular University shall not be issued without any further intimation and action under section (40) subsection (a) & (b) of J&K Paramedical Council Act- norms and action under relevant rules shall be initiated,” the council said.
